Butterflies on Ice

Here three dainty Butterflies dance on an icy blue and golden background. They are so delicately hand painted they look as like real pressed Butterflies! The background was first painted with pthalo blue and gold acrylic paint. Three or more different shades of high quality gold paint were used. Then magenta was splashed intermittently for a more dramatic effect. I added the Butterflies at the very end, with raw and burnt sienna and gold. This piece is gorgeous in person. The Gummybear Coating makes the Butterflies look so real and makes the golds in the background just jump off of the canvas.
